Helping Hands Food Pantry helps people in the following areas:
- Providing Food: Gives food to people in need
- Prayer and Counseling: At High Plains Helping Hands, the day starts with prayer among the workers – to praise and thank God and to ask for His heart, words, and actions. As each client comes in, we ask if they would like prayer. It is our honor to pray with the majority of people and to witness how God answers those prayers. Counsel is also given, when needed and wanted.
- School Supplies: Prior to the school year, we give school supplies to families needing them for their children. Supplies included everything from pencils to backpacks.
- Special Needs: Our families ask for aid in meeting special needs, such as furniture, appliances, firewood, etc. As items are doanted, we seek to match the item with the person or family that needs it.
- Thanksgiving Baskets: What is Thanksgiving without the turkey and all the trimmings? Families in our community are given turkeys and everything needed for a complete traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
- Christmas Toys and Meals: Parents are able to come to our Christmas toy “store” and pick out appropriate toys for their children. What a blessing to know that every child receives gifts on Christmas Day! Christmas meals, including ham, are also provided for the families. How exciting to help make Christmas so special for these families!
- Winter Warmth: Coats, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets, and firewood are provided to many families to help keep them warm through the winter season.
- Clothes for all Seasons: Donations of clothes by so many families enable us to provide much-needed clothing for all ages – babies through adults.
- Mother's Day and Father's Day Bags: Special days call for special gifts and that’s what is given to mothers and fathers in our community to recognize how loved and appreciated they are.
