The DNA of a Word and Spirit Church

God Builds His Church

We do not believe that it is our responsibility to grow the church. It is rather our responsibility to be faithful to God’s Word, walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, and equip the saints. It is God’s responsibility to build and grow the church. The founder and leader of Mountain Springs Church is Jesus Christ. It is His church. He has promised to protect, provide for, and build His church (Matthew 16:18-19). We are confident that if we are His faithful stewards, He will guide and grow His church.

Jesus is the Center

We believe that everything we do at MSC should glorify Jesus Christ. At the center of our worship, teaching, and the ministries of MSC is the life of Jesus Christ. Every ministry and activity at this church is evaluated in its effectiveness based on how it exalts Christ. We believe that when Christ is lifted up, He is most honored, and when He is most honored, He is most glorified, and where He is most glorified, He is most present.

Grounded and Bound by God’s Word

All of our teaching at MSC is evaluated according to the Bible. Our theological and experiential boundaries come from God’s Word. We remain within the parameters of the Bible. We judge all spiritual gifts and revelation according to the grounding and binding of Scripture. We practice expository teaching from God’s Word.

Empowered By the Holy Spirit

We believe that every believer has received the Holy Spirit. But not every believer is filled with the Spirit. The only way to live a victorious and joyful Christian life is to yield our rights to Christ. In every believer, there is a cross and throne. When we yield our life to Christ, we allow ourselves to be crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). The Spirit-filled life is a decision of placing Christ on the throne of our hearts and crucifying ourselves.

Everyone Can Minister

We have a conviction that every person has been created with spiritual gifts given by God for serving and ministering to others. We believe that the adventure begins by knowing and falling in love with Jesus Christ. At MSC, we desire to bless each person with the opportunity to use their unique gifts, talents, and skills in a team environment to bring glory to God. We try to create an atmosphere for spiritual entrepreneurship and risk-taking so that each of us can work together to discover how to be used most effectively for God’s purposes.

Spirit-filled Families

We believe that the most effective place for growth in being a disciple of Christ is within one’s immediate family. At MSC, we desire to help equip fathers, mothers, young adults, and children to live lives of holiness and godly integrity in all that they do. We have a vision for Spirit-filled families that exhibit the fruit and power of the Spirit to the world. The greatest witness of the life of Christ to the world is a godly family.

Grace Atmosphere

We have a conviction that all of us flourish in an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and forgiveness. At MSC, we believe that in the same way Christ poured out His grace upon us, we should show the same grace toward others. We believe that people thrive in a spiritual family that thinks the best of others and allows each to grow into the person that they were created to be.

Matthew 18 Mandate

At MSC, we believe that Jesus has clearly instructed us in how to resolve conflicts. In Matthew 18:15-20, Jesus explains that we are to resolve our conflicts with others. We are commanded to go and meet with our offended brother and seek clarification, forgiveness, and restoration. We have all been given the ministry of reconciliation. Thus, we encourage people, in any conflict, to seek out restoration following the procedure of Matthew 18.

Casual Atmosphere

We value a casual and relaxed environment at MSC. We believe that God cares more about the inner attitude of our heart than the outer clothing we wear. We want all people to come as they are without religious pretense. We desire to create a casual atmosphere where relationships can easily be fostered and maintained.

Raising up Leaders from Within

We place a high value on leaders being developed from within our church. We have found over the years the best leaders are the ones with the most equity. Equity is built over time and experience, through relationship. Thus, we believe the most effective leaders are those whom we reach for Christ, disciple, and release into leadership, all within the boundaries of MSC.
